Letter from His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa
Lama Norlha has aspired to construct a Monastery in the United States of America. I feel very pleased about this meritorious activity and would like to encourage everyone to support him in this noble endeavor.

Announcement by Kenting Tai Situpa
The Maitreya Center at Kagyu Thubten Chöling has been established by Lama Norlha Rinpoche in Wappingers Falls, New York. Kagyu Thubten Chöling and its centers are branches of the Palpung Institution. It is with great pleasure to announce that the year 2016 marks the grand opening of the Maitreya Center. My sincere wish is that everyone, both near and far, may participate in this joyful occasion and support the center's activities in whatever way possible.
The Maitreya Center is a sacred space dedicated to the study and practice of Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. Most importantly, it is the Buddha's home where persons of all backgrounds are welcome. The crown jewel of this center is a statue of the Buddha of Loving Kindness Maitreya in the main shrine hall. This statue is most auspicious as Lord Maitreya will succeed Buddha Shakyamuni as the next buddha in this world, teach the Dharma anew, and be a source of happiness to countless beings.
In the main shrine, to Maitreya's right and left will be statues of White Tara and Guru Rinpoche. Also, the Maitreya Center has the unique distinction of housing a Mahayana Hall that will include shrines dedicated to Amitabha Buddha, the Medicine Buddha, and Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. The upper-level of the center will include a Green Tara Shrine Room and monastic quarters for quiet reflection.
Due to the great efforts of many masters, including His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, His Holiness the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa, the Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche, the Buddha's teachings have taken root in America and the furthest reaches of the globe. The Maitreya Center presents a new chapter in the history of the Buddha Dharma. It brings together diverse traditions under one roof and is a complete, traditional monastery for the Dharma to flourish, which defines the principle of Palpung, the "Mount of Excellence." It serves the community as a place where spirituality and local culture will grow together. It promotes the balancing of the elements and harmony in the environment in this age of strife. And in these times of uncertainty, it is a shelter for those who seek genuine refuge in the Three Jewels.
In the Sublime Continuum (Gyu Lama), Lord Maitreya taught that all sentient beings possess the nature of buddha. May all those who see, hear of, pray before, or simply think of the precious holy image of Lord Maitreya at Kagyu Thubten Chöling ripen the seed of awakening within them.
At the sincere request of Lama Norlha Rinpoche, I pray for the Maitreya Center to be of utmost benefit for many generations.
Yours in the Holy Dharma,
The 12th Kenting Tai Situpa
The Supreme Head of the Palpung Institutions of Buddhism
